Jooyoung Lee studied at Daegu Catholic University in Korea, and Central Saint Martins in the UK before completing a Visual Arts MA at Goldsmiths. She works across a variety of media, including installation, photography, publication and video. Much of her practice directly intervenes in the public sphere by questioning the division of private and public, and often inviting collaboration. Various residencies have informed her practice including the MMCA Residency Changdong (Seoul), the Flagfabrikken (Bergen), the Incheon Art Platform (Incheon) and Koganecho Area Management Center (Yokohama). Her work has been exhibited at various venues including the Seoul Museum of Art (Seoul), Gertrude Contemporary (Melbourne), Lee Sang’ House (Seoul), Art Sonje Center (Seoul), REAL DMZ Project (Cherwon). Lee is currently the artist of the Art Link program at Topological Space.

Jinho Jung loves animals, myths, the history of each country, and an animated character called B-Daman. His interest returns again and again to spirited things such as dinosaurs, ghosts, gods, demons, and angels. Even though he knows that such imaginations and research might be seen as a strange delusion he persists because this is a major component of his worldview. He is a worker and playful creator who is devoted to building the Hyper B-Daman universe which is the crystallization of his delusion. His recent works have been shown in <Shrunken Paper Expand World> (Buk-Seoul Museum of Art, 2021) and <Welcome to My Universe> ( Art Space Hue, 2022).

한정림은 일상에서 발견한 오브제로 꿈과 현실의 경계, 자연과 인공적인 것에 관한 작업을 하고 있다. 일상과 비 일상의 경계가 갖는 모호함은 허무한 감정을 일으키고, 우연과 필연에 의해 선택된 단편들의 목록을 시각화한다. 일종의 대리물로서의 작업은 현실에서의 삶의 원동력이 된다. 인간과 사물, 환경에서 드러나는 소소한 풍경과 아름다움을 발견하여 작업을 하고 있다. 현재는 음식을 연구중이다.
Junglim Han is working on the boundary between dream and reality, and the natural and artificial, with objects found in everyday life. The ambiguity of the boundary between the everyday and the non-routine creates a sense of emptiness and illustrates the list of fragments selected by chance and inevitability. The work as a kind of substitute becomes the driving force of life in reality. She works by discovering the small landscapes and beauty that are revealed in humans, objects, and the environment. She is currently focusing on food.

Jaewon Jeon is interested in spaces and the elements that make them up. He recently designed and self-installed ‘topological space’. He is attracted to the beauty of the structure, the many surfaces of that structure, and the combinations of materials there. This work observes and records the process of intertwining, striking a balance between macro and micro perspectives.
공간과 그것들을 이루는 요소들에 관심을 가진다. 그 속 재료들의 표면,구조,결합의 아름다움에 매력을 느끼며, 그것들이 서로 얽히는 과정을 바라보고 기록하고 있다. 거시적 그리고 미시적 관점의 균형을 쫒으려 노력한다. ‘위상공간’의 공간기획 및 설치제작하였다.

Hyemin Son 손혜민
My current work perceives collectivity in the fermentation process as a practical engagement with organic material and chemistry, and also as a metaphor of how matter is transformed and how materials—human and more than human— can be configured into new and particular formations. It often takes the form of a collaboration-based project by organizing a meeting, performance, event, or tour, designed to create tensions and ruptures between an artist’s intention and the situation as it unfolds and to operate as a solution to problems or as alternative simulations. I also work as a member of the collective, Rice Brewing Sisters Club based in Korea.
손혜민은 발효과정을 중심으로 일어나는 실제적, 비유적 과정과 행위에 관심이 있다. 유기적 물질과 화학작용은 비단 인간중심 이외의 생명체와 활동을 새롭게 인식할 수 있는 형식을 새롭게 상상해 볼 수 있는 매개체이며, 이를 주로 협업 위주의 프로젝트로 이끌어 낸다. 손혜민은 <라이스 브루잉 시스터즈 클럽> 콜렉티브의 멤버로 또한 활동하고 있다.

Jooyoung Lee invited Junglim Han, Jinho Jung, and Sungho Shin, members of Topological Space, for the project “Workplace Sequence”. Topological Space is an artist-run space run by Itzzaitzza Social Cooperative that connects the non-disabled and the disabled through art.
For this show, Sungho Shin introduces his drawing series “transportation and tanks (2015-2018)” produced when he worked as a member of the artist at the nonprofit organization called Rawside which was formerly Topological Space. He also did the handwriting of the show titles on the window for the show. Jooyoung Lee Introduces her project “Cul De Sac Ville (2018-ongoing)” along with some of her collage series which started during the pandemic. Jinho Jung is interested in mythology and ancient biology and conducts a drawing performance “SoohohwansooJaejakso” (2021-2022), by drawing imaginary animals at the request of the audience. Hong Minji introduces a teaser video for “Workplace Sequence” made in collaboration with Jooyoung Lee, as well as the video documentation of the remodeling process of topological space. Jeon Jaewon recently designed and installed ‘topological space’ in the exhibition.
For the closing event, Hyemin Son, who is working with the process of fermentation and is also a member of the collective “Rice Brewing Sisters Club”, introduces Makgeolli which was brewed in Busan during her solo project “Bubble Shop”. Junglim Han, who recently has been focusing on food, introduces food and drinks made with ingredients grown in her garden as part of her project “herb project”.

<작업실시퀀스(Workplace Sequence)> 프로젝트를 위해 이주영은 먼저 <위상공간>에서 활동하는 작가 정진호와 한정림, 신승호를 초대했다. <위상공간>은 예술로 비장애와 장애를 잇는 ‘잇자잇자 사회적협동조합’ 이 운영하는 전시공간이다. 신승호는 과거 로사이드에서 활동하던 시기에 작업한 드로잉 <전차와 지원차량> (2015-2018)을 소개한다. 이주영은 현재 중인 중인 <쿨데삭빌 2018-온고잉>프로젝트의 일부과 팬데믹 기간 시작한 콜라주 시리즈를 소개한다.
신화, 고대생물학에 관심이 많은 정진호는 관객의 요청에 의해 원하는 상상의 동물을 그려주는 드로잉 퍼포먼스<수호환수제작소>(2021-2022)를 진행한다. <위상공간>의 커뮤니케이션과 그래픽을 담당하고 있는 홍민지는 이주영과 함께 협업한 <작업실시퀀스> 홍보영상과 <위상공간>관련 기록영상을 소개한다. 최근에 새롭게 변모한 <위상공간> 공간 기획 및 설치/제작을 담당한 전재원과 이번 전시 작품 설치에도 함께 했다.
클로징 이벤트를 위해 <라이스부루잉시스터즈 클럽>의 손혜민은 부산에서 열리는 개인전 <버블숍> 위해 직접 빚은 ‘막걸리’를 소개한다. 최근 음식에 집중하고 있는 한정림은 직접 재배한 재료로 요리와 약초 프로젝트의 음료를 소개한다.
이주영은 이 전시를 예술가든 기획자이든 장애가 있건 없건 레이블이 없는 전시라고 설명한다.
